A Welcome to Sparkle @ AXM Bar

From 3 pm - 6 pmm

This is where Sparkle really starts and is the perfect place to arrange to meet
up with friends and plan your weekend ahead. If you're new to the scene or new to Manchester then this is where to make some new friends and talk to the locals.


Full details of all the weekends activities will be available, plus the Sparkle Information Point - run for us by TranzNet, providing TG help and support.
They also have Penny Brace, Style consultant from Inner Beauty who will be giving make-up and style advice. Bernie Clifton, Hate Crime & LGBT Liaison Officer from Greater Manchester Police with advice on Personal safety and free Personnel Alarms. And Susan Hargreaves, the playwright, promoting her Project 'On the Breast'.

There will also be a meeting point for Trans-men (f2m TG) who may be attending Sparkle for the first time or wanting to meet others.

for T-girl first timers ...

Anyone who is at Sparkle for the first time, on their own or nervous about being out dressed, is welcome to come along to AXM in male mode during the afternoon.

Emma Lovelace (who is at Sparkle for the fourth time) and her wife Lesley have kindly agree to host a get-together for new girls. If you want to find others in the same position as you or someone to walk into the Village with later in the evening, or simply want someone to help with those first-time nerves - then this is you point of contact.

Emma is pictured left so you know who to look for. Or ask the girls on the Sparkle info stand to point you in Emma and Lesley's direction. Between 3.00 and 5.00 pm

 

Chinese Banquet Meal - All welcome

From 8 pm - 11 pm

A Special Chinese Banquet, with entertainment and Disco, is being held at 8:00pm We especially invite those NEW to Sparkle, on their own, from overseas or out for the first time. Join us as we help you make new friends to share the weekend with, and to become part of the fantastic party that is Sparkle 2008.

The event is in the downstairs private function room of the restaurant and so is particularly suitable for those not used to being out in public or dressing for the first time. It is also accessible to Wheelchair users and will cater for vegetarians. The Shang Hi Restaurant is on Whitworth Street, just outside the Village.

Let's Shine - The Sparkle Party @ AXM

From 8.30 pm

This is the Sparkle launch party hosted by our fab friends at AXM Bar . What a fun way to start the weekend and get all dressed-up for a great night out!

Forget London fashion week, forget Paris and Milan, let's make Canal Street the biggest cat-walk in the world - and you are the models! Glam and Glitz is in fashion this year so let's show the world how fashionable ‘T' can be!

This is your chance to really Sparkle - so wear your sparkliest dress, your biggest bling, your highest heels and your broadest smile - it's time to party T-girl style as we put the ‘GLAM' back into glamorous!

There will be spot prizes for the ‘Sparkliest' girls or boys on the night!
