This list is not exhaustive, but is generated by community members and community leaders to provide a good bank of support resources for Trans, Non-Binary and Gender Diverse people.

UK Social, Support Groups 

Sanctuary - Our incredibly successful wellbeing social group trial has now come to an end, stand ready for August when we relaunch for a full 12 month programme of events!

​

Manchester Minxes - An inclusive, friendly, support and social group for trans Ladies to meet in and around Manchester.

​

Leeds First Friday - Every first Friday of the month, in and around the Freedom Quarter of Leeds. Run by and for the trans+ community.

​

Forge - Manchester's original social and support group for trans men, trans masculine people, and non-binary people who were assigned female at birth (AFAB), and are over 18.​

 

Gendered Intelligence – Trans-led charity that aims to improve the lives of trans and non-binary people in the UK, specialises in supporting young people.

​

Spectra – Peer-led trans services accessible to all trans and gender-diverse people, including 1-2-1 health advocacy support, counselling, and peer mentoring.

Support for Young People

Mermaids - Have been supporting transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families since 1995.

The Proud Trust - Are an LGBT+ organisation that supports LGBT+ young people through youth groups, peer support, mentoring programs and the Proud Connections chat service.

The Trevor Project - They believe LGBTQ young people deserve a welcoming, loving world. And we wake up every day dedicated to making that a reality and continue to provide information & support to LGBTQ 
young people 24/7, all year round.

The Albert Kennedy Trust - AKT supports lgbtq+ young people aged 16-25 in the uk who are facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.

LGBT Youth Scotland - Are Scotland’s national charity for LGBTI young people, working with 13–25 year olds across the country. We also deliver the LGBT Charter programme to schools, organisations and businesses.

Sexual Health and Wellbeing

Terrence Higgins Trust - Offer information about HIV, other sexually transmitted infections and how to maintain good sexual health. Including vital resources for people living with HIV and those newly diagnosed.

CliniQ - Offer a holistic sexual health, mental health and wellbeing service for all trans people, partners and friends. We are a trans-led team, who offer a safe, confidential space for those who may not feel comfortable accessing mainstream services.

56 Dean St - Is a London based service who offer a range of sexual health services for the trans and non-binary community. All our waiting areas, toilets and screening rooms are gender neutral.

Gum Clinic Directory - This NHS search service, gives you a way to search for your local GUM Clinic or Services via your Postcode.

The Rainbow Project - Is a health organisation that works to improve the physical, mental & emotional health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual people in Northern Ireland.

 

TransBareAll - TransBareAll is an organisation that believes in improving the health and wellbeing of trans people.

QTIPOC Support

Rainbow Noir – a support group for queer people of colour in Manchester, it is established for and by queer people of colour in Manchester. 
 

UK Black Pride – an organisation that hold an annual pride event. UK Black Pride is Europe’s largest celebration for LGBTQ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American descent. 
 

Purple Rain Collective – a collective for QTIPOC in the UK. They want QTIPOC people to come together to support each other in prioritising their care, safety and wellbeing.
 

Imaan – an organisation for LGBTQI+ Muslims, they organise community and educational workshops as well as safe spaces to meet and socialise.

Hidayah
 – an organisation for LGBTQI+ Muslims. They offer social and support groups in Manchester, London, Newcastle, Glasgow and Leeds. 

 

Glitter Cymru – a social group for BAME LGBT+ in Wales. The group has a social meet up every month for BAME people who identify as LGBT+. 
 

AZ Magazine – an online publication for LGBT+ people of colour. This is a media platform that allows LGBT+ people of colour to showcase their talents and to address the issues that are faced in the BME community. 
 

Inclusive Sports

Pride Sports - Pride Sports is committed to the development of a vibrant LGBT+ sports sector. We have helped new clubs across a number of sports to get started and even more to become sustainable and to provide a good quality experience for their LGBTQIA+ members.

Trans Can Sport - Trans Can Sport is a not-for-profit project based in Brighton and Hove. It was created to get trans people into exercise and healthy living, and aims to help anyone who feels their transgender identity makes participating in sport difficult.

UKRDA - The United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) is the National Association for roller derby in the UK. Roller Derby is often called the "UK's Most Trans Inclusive Sport".

TransActive - Trans Active aims to help the trans community in and around Sheffield socialise and improve their fitness and mental wellbeing through sport in a safe, relaxed environment.

Other Organisations

Press For Change -  Press for Change has been a key lobbying and legal support organisation for Trans people in the UK. since it's formation in 1992. Seeking respect and equality for ALL trans people in the UK, through case law, legislation, and social change, it reaches thousands of trans people in the UK.

Stonewall Housing - Stonewall Housing works to ensure lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people live in safer homes, free from fear, and where we can celebrate our identity and support each other to achieve our full potential.

Trans Media Watch - Trans Media Watch helps people in the media to understand these issues and produce clear, accurate, respectful material. It also helps trans and intersex people who are interacting with the media to get results they are comfortable with.

 

Gender Identity Services

Sparkle understand the distress many trans people face whilst waiting for NHS gender services, and encourage you to reach out to the above organisations if you are struggling.

 

We know many gender services currently have very lengthy wait lists, and it can be very difficult to be waiting for so long.

 

There is a resource by GenderKit.org.uk which lists the most recent timescales for all of the NHS Clinics in the UK.
